Zach’s 1st Christmas

From Santa in Blacksburg

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to All!

We had a great time this holiday with Zach. As you can see, this year Zach snuggled up with Santa AKA Uncle Greg. It is wonderful to have your own personal family Santa.
Below is the series of events with Zach and Santa. Other photos of Santa and Zach previously posted.

Zach had several opportunities to open presents.

Jan and I even did the big BLACK FRIDAY in the big D. We accomplished our goals: Wii FIT for me and Guitar Hero World Tour for the Wii for Jan. Even better sister bonding time…PRICELESS!

We also exchanged gifts.

Santa in Blacksburg

Randy Zach and I went to Blacksburg a couple of weekends ago to watch the Tech/Duke football game. It was the 2nd coldest football weather for Tech. Zach had a babysitter :)

While we were visiting Uncle Greg and Aunt Sarah, Santa (aka Uncle Greg) came by greeting Zach for his first Christmas. Zach was did a great job. He really liked the snowy white beard.

Here is Zach’s first impression of Santa

Happy Halloween!

Despite being sick, Zach had a great night!

Trucks, tires, dogs, and a boy

We went back with Randy to the construction site. This time we brought along Zach’s trucks that he will be getting at Christamstime or his birthday :)

The light was great, the subjects did a great job too! Enjoy.

Playing in the dirt!

Randy has been out of town this week, so I played Dad a little tonight. Zach, Trek and Timber and I headed to the end of the cul-de-sac and explored the area that was forest where we used to run/walk the trails.

Norway

We had a blast in Norway the past 11 days. Zach did GREAT the entire time from planes, trains, automobiles, and boats. The time 6 hour time change did not seem to bother him one bit.

Planes
We flew from Richmond to DC to Copenhagen, Denmark to Oslo, Norway. The return flight was the same except we left from Bergen, Norway. We sat in the bulkhead with a bassinet both ways :) on our flight over the Atlantic. (6 hours going and 7 returning) Randy and I watched movies, played video games, slept some and occasionally walked the aisles with Zach. Zach basically slept and ate. We took 3 suitcases, a backpack, camera bag, duffelbag/diaper bag, and a stroller.

Trains
We did one of the “World’s Best Train Rides.” Each day we would get on the train and travel through the country side for an hour or two. We got off at the next little town, checked in to the hotel, rested, and ventured outside to explore the area.

Automobiles… really buses and taxis
We took the bus to the top of one of the mountains where we stayed the night. It was beautiful, yet a little treacherous to get there. Michelle and Zach took a bus to a waterfall and spent an afternoon on a waterfall photo shoot. We actually became a tourist attraction to a group from China on a tour bus.

Boats and Kayaks
One day we took a fjord cruise. We saw tons of waterfalls, some dolphins, and huge mountains. The water was beautiful. Randy also went kayaking on afternoon.

We enjoyed the sights of Norway, from the hiking, sightseeing, fish markets, glaciers, and fine eating. We ate reindeer, elk, whale, duck, lamb, pizza, hamburgers, and sausages.

Below is a slide show of our trip. We selected only 150 out of the 1067 images we took, plus video. Enjoy if you have the time to look.

Zach is 6 months

It is hard to believe that Zachary is 6 months old.
He can:
• Sit by himself
• Squeal in delight (we call him the Pterodactyl)
• Roll over front to back and back to front
• Eat oatmeal and other foods
• Smile at people
• Transfer objects from hand to hand
• Recognize mommy and daddy’s voices
• Pull Timber and Trek’s hair (even mommy’s too)
• Turn pages in his story books
• Drool on everything

Grandpa, Grammie, and Uncle Joel come to visit

Zach had such a great time with his grandparents. They brought him books, a ball and clothes.

Grandpa Frank fixed our leaky faucet while Grammie played with Zach.

Uncle Joel came down for the day too. He and Randy played Freesbie Golf and Poker.
